History Detectives Needed

C. T. Coulter has contacted the History Center because he is searching for the family or any remaining relatives of Mr. and Mrs. George Lackey who lived at 702 E. State, from 1891 thru at least 1951.  This home would have been where City Hall is now.

Mr. Coulter has found a Photo Book and several loose-leaf photos from a (possible) Tazewell and/or Peoria County family, obtained from the Good Karma Antique and Thrift Store in Sunnyland-Washington, IL. He is not sure how Lawrence County items ended up in Peoria Area, Illinois, but he hopes to find out with the help of our history detectives.

If you have any information as to the family identities or any additional information about any of these pictures, please contact Christoph Traugott, christophtraugott@sent.com and via the Peoria Historical Society, Office phone, 309-674-1921, 611 SW Washington Street, Peoria, Illinois 61602.

Some of the items included are: Newspaper clippings of Mr. and Mrs. George Lackey, possible family patriarch, of Lawrenceville, Illinois 60th Anniversary announcement, local pictures at George Rogers Clark National Historical Park, located in Vincennes, Indiana, a 1942 report that Charles E. Elder has arrived safely in Ireland, and a 1942 report that Richard B. Cockrum has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant in aircraft gunnery at Tyndall Field, Miss., serving with the 21st Bombardment Squadron, Mac Dill Field, Florida as well as late 1890s portraits, family photos from 1920s-and 30s, and early wartime 1940s thru the 60s.
