Reunions

The first Harper Reunion was held August 21, 1938 at the Bridgeport Park.  Roy Harper was elected President; Sec. and Treas.was Lena Harper, and Chairman of Entertainment was Jasper Pepple. Members of the Harper family, as well as members of the Walker,  Donley, Mickel, Cunningham, Pepple, Vangilder, Piper, Green, and Sumner Families were present.

The descendants of Sam and Edna Bowen held their third Bowen reunion in 1982. Forty descendants of Lee and Carrie Legg Brookhart met also in 1982. ( The newspaper clipping stated that the extreme heat of the day was no match for the warmth in the conversations among families, friends, and neighbors.

Saturday August 22, 1982 the Lawrence Township Park was the site of the annual Goins family reunion. 


In celebration of the 97th birthday of Silas Wright members of his family met at the Lanterman park in the summer of 1982.  A native of Lawrence county, Silas Wright was born in Lukin Township June 4, 1885 the son of Noah and Sarah Melinda Wright.  He was married to May Frances Piper and to them four daughters and four sons were born. 

The children of the late Frank and Emma Morris gathered over the July 4 weekend, 1982.  Frank and Emma Morris were among some of the first settlers in the area, locating on land west of Pinkstaff.  Over 125 members gathered from far and wide.  A Fish Fry was held at the home of Carl and Beverly Curry on Friday.  On Saturday  a barbecue was hosted by Charles and Eleanor Morris at their home, the original site of the family home place.  Saturday evening a wiener roast and hoe-down were enjoyed at the home of Bob and Marva Green.


The McClain family celebrated Grace McClain's 80th birthday Sept 12, 1982 at the Elks Club.  All six of her children, Joe (Maureen), Bob (Von), Don (Sue Jane), Marilyn (Estel) Wagner, Sue (Clarence) Shoulders, and Judy (Harold) Grove were present as were many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
