On Saturday July 2nd, 2016 a group of Elihue and Aletta Cole descendants came together for their annual reunion at Cole Woods, east of Pinkstaff. A great time was had by all with music, food and great storytelling. This annual celebration has taken place since after the Civil War during the emanicpation of slavery. Betty, Jim and Jack Dole are the only living children of Clayton and Cassie Cole. Families feom Chicago, St Louis, New Jersey, Alabama, Minnesota, Kokomo, Gibson County and Lawrence County attended A heritage stement was shared as a reminder of their ancestors among the first settlers in Lawrence County.
