Claude Gray and the Suttle

The above items were shown to  us for publication by R Stevens.  His Grandfather was Claude Gray, (1884-1961) a police officer for Bridgeport and deputy sheriff during his career. Claude ran for sheriff in 1946 losing to Carlos M. Whipkey.  The key was used to unlock one of the cells in the Lawrence County jail. Claude was killed in an auto accident on Alt US 50 at Lexington Ave.

The photo below shows two pieces of telephone equipment that were made at the Suttle here in Lawrenceville, also shown to us by Mr. Stevens.

The Lawrence County Historical Society will hold its monthly program meeting on Monday, April 27, at 7:00 p.m. at the museum in Lawrenceville.  Featured speakers will be Jody Buchanan and Larry Whitmer, who will present a program on the military experiences of Private Jacob Adams at the Battle of Little Bighorn.
