Most Outstanding Small Church 1986

The Beulah United Methodist Church, south of Sumner, received the "Most Outstanding Small Church" award, given at the 1986 Southern Illinois Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church held in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. The Beulah Church representing the Olney district, was chosen by the Town & Country Committee of the Annual Conference.

Criteria for the award included: growth in numbers, spiritual growth, sense of unity and harmony in the congregation, sense of cooperation with other churches, enthusiasm by the pastor and congregation, and the church's understanding of mission.

Rev. Fred White has been pastor of the church since November of 1984.  Rev. White, wife Brenda and daughter Hayley, live in  Sumner and is also the  pastor for the Sumner United Methodist Church.
