Directions to Sumner Cemetery from Olney: take Hwy 50 east to Sumner turnoff, Rt 250 south. Turn right; Follow RT 250 1-2 miles and Cemetery will be on the south (right hand side) of highway.
Directions to Sumner Cemetery from Lawrenceville: Take 250 West toward Sumner. After passing Red Hill State Park exit, the cemetery will be short distance west on the left hand side of highway. Entrances will be marked.
Instructions: Parking attendants will be on hand to assist with parking at the cemetery. The ceremony will be outside, and some walking over uneven ground will be required. Chairs will be provided. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony. There are no restrooms at the cemetery. Tickets are not necessary; free will donations will be accepted to further the work of the Society.
The Historical Society is looking for descendants of George Bopp. If you are related or think you might be, please contact a Society member immediately.
George Bopp was the son of Henry and Elizabeth Ables Bopp. His brother Martin was a Civil War veteran; his other brother was named Eli, and his sister Malinda married John Furguson.
George married Susan Hendrickson in 1874 and they had 7 children, one of whom died as an infant.
