Havolines and Lawrence Lore

Charles Gosnell of 1109 7th St., Lawrenceville died at age 66. Chuck was prominent in athletic circles as a young man. He played baseball in the Three-Eye League with Evansville, and the Kitty League with Evansville. He came back to Lawrenceville as a player on the Havoline club under manager Mordecai Brown, bringing “Tickets” Erwin and Hank Bonham with him, both of whom had played with him in organized baseball. Although he started his baseball career as a pitcher, he thereafter played left field and was considered an outstanding player.
