In lower photos Maurice Theriac of the VFW and Judi Schoffstall of the American Legion Auxiliary, Lawrence Unit # 28 present a new flag for the Centerville Cemetery to Noble Brown,Trustee and Kevin Borden of the Cemetery committee of the Society.There are over 25 veterans buried at Centerville.

Dedicate Flag Pole At Courthouse with Short Program
The Flagpole recently erected in the courthouse yard by Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion will be dedicated with appropriate ceremonies next Monday evening. A short program will begin at 6:30 and the flag will be lowered at 7:00 o'clock.
Mayor J. P. Alexander will make a short address and will be followed by B. O. Sumner as representative of the V. F. W. The Girl Scouts will have a part in the program and the bugler of Co. L will sound the call to colors. Mrs. W. R. Simpson will sing "Sleep, Soldier Boy," accompanied by Mrs. Robert V. Morris.
The Flag Pole was erected at a cost of $69.26, and the repair of the guns and lumber used in the forms cost $9.00. Sand and cement for the foundation was furnished by the Board of Supervisors and the greater part of the work donated. F. A. Richey, commander of the V. F. W., Raised $49.50 by subscription, leaving a deficit of $28.76. Anyone wishing to contribute to the fund may do so by seeing any member of the V. F. W. or American Legion.
